September 30 Official swearing of allegiance to the Spanish flag in Aguilas
Pomp and ceremony at an event organized by the Ministry of Defence outside the seafront auditorium in Águilas
An event which offers the Spanish to reaffirm their patriotism is taking place on September 30 at 12.00 midday outside the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena in Águilas, where individuals are invited to take part in a formal swearing of allegiance to the national flag.
This event had been scheduled for June 2020 but had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, though, the Ministry of Defence delegation in the Region of Murcia has authorized the new date at the end of this month.
Participation in the ceremony is not open to non-Spanish nationals (although they might be curious to watch!), and is restricted to over-18s who have completed the requisite registration process online here or in person at the Oficina de Atención Ciudadana in Águilas between 9.00 and 13.30 by Friday September 22. Online registrations close on September 24.
