Beer flows across M-50 in Madrid after truck overturns
More than a few pints spilled after a truck carrying 20 tons of beer overturned on the M-50 in Getafe

We’re used to beer flowing at this time of year, but not quite like this. Two people were injured after a car collided with a truck carrying 20 tonnes of beer, which had overturned on the M-50 in Getafe, Madrid. One of the injured was taken to the hospital for treatment, while the other was treated at the scene.
The accident happened when the truck full of beer veered off the road, overturned and spilled the entirety of its precious cargo across the motorway. Shortly afterward a car crashed into the truck’s cargo area, blocking the M-50 completely.

The emergency teams from Madrid’s 112 service confirmed that the truck driver was taken to Getafe Hospital with minor injuries. The car driver only needed treatment at the scene. Four fire brigades worked to secure the vehicles involved. They also had to control a small fuel leak and mop up the motorway. The Guardia Civil managed the traffic at the scene and set up diversions. Let’s hope the accident doesn’t leave anyone short of a Christmas pint.
