Alicante weather October 1-4: Heavy rain and storms expected as temperatures fall

AEMET has issued an important weather warning for northern Alicante as heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail are expected from Thursday afternoon

Thursday will still be warm in parts of Alicante Province, with temperatures reaching 32°C in Elche and Orihuela. However, rain and thunderstorms will move in from the afternoon, with the north of the province most at risk of heavy downpours. Temperatures will then fall from Friday, with rain and storms continuing into the weekend. Here's what to expect over the next few days.

Thursday October 1

Cloud cover will increase throughout the day, with showers and thunderstorms expected from around midday across the northern half of the Province. Some of these could be heavy and may bring hail.
AEMET has issued an important-level warning for the northern Alicante coast from 2:00 pm on Thursday until 11.59am on Friday.

Up to 50mm of rain could fall in one hour, while thunderstorms could bring hail and very strong wind gusts. The warning has a 40-70% probability.

Temperatures will reach 32°C in Elche and Orihuela, 30°C in Alicante and 29°C in Alcoy and Dénia.

Friday October 2

Rain and thunderstorms will continue, with the heaviest showers expected along the northern coast. Rain will be less likely in the south of the province.

Temperatures will be lower, reaching 25°C in Alcoy, 26°C in Dénia, 29°C in Orihuela and 30°C in Alicante and Elche.

The weather warning for the northern coast remains in place until 11.59am, with the possibility of hail and very strong wind gusts during the storms.

Saturday October 3

Cloudy skies and showers with thunderstorms are expected, although the heaviest rain will be further north in Castellón and Valencia. Temperatures will reach 24°C in Alcoy, 26°C in Dénia and 28°C in Alicante, Elche and Orihuela.

Winds will be light at first, then become moderate and turn easterly around lunchtime.

Sunday October 4

Cloudy weather and showers with thunderstorms will continue, although the strongest storms are expected further north in Castellón. Temperatures will remain similar to Saturday, reaching 24°C in Alcoy, 26°C in Dénia and 28°C in Alicante, Elche and Orihuela.
