Until January 13 Historic Mazarron print from 1765 on display in the Casas Consistoriales
The print illustrates the Miracle of Bolnuevo which occurred in 1585
The recent discovery of an 18th century print illustrating the town of Mazarrón and the Miracle of Bolnuevo has aroused great interest in the municipality, and this historical treasure, which had been lost for centuries, is being displayed at the Casas Consistoriales in the centre of the town until Sunday January 13.
Commissioned by Friar Diego Vibanco and created by Domingo Ximénez de Cisneros, the print was discovered recently in a ruined mansion in Fondón, in the province of Almería, and is the oldest known image of Mazarrón. Apart from the coastline between the watchtower of Puerto de Mazarrón and Piedra Mala, it is also possible to make out important buildings such as churches.
Those wishing to see this fascinating piece of local history can do so until January 13 at the Casas Consistoriales (open every morning except Sundays from 10.00 until 14.00 and on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 17.00 to 20.00). It should be noted that the building will remain closed on the public holidays of December 6, 8 and 25 and January 1 and 6.
