Spain's Imserso budget holidays go on sale this week with trips from just €50
Bookings open from Monday September 14, with Murcia and Valencia applicants getting their turn later in the week
Spain's popular
Imserso holiday scheme is getting ready to open for the 2026-27 season, with bookings starting this week and hundreds of thousands of places available across the country.
The programme will offer 879,213 places for pensioners looking for everything from beach holidays and island breaks to cultural trips, nature escapes and visits to European destinations.
Bookings begin on Monday September 14, although the exact date depends on where you live and whether you've been given preferred-user status.
When can Murcia and Valencia residents book?
For people living in Murcia and the
Valencian Community, preferred users can start booking on Wednesday September 16.
Non-preferred users will have to wait until Thursday September 17.
The booking system is being staggered across Spain, with different regions allocated specific days. During the first few days, applicants can only book trips allocated to their own province.
From Saturday September 19, any remaining places will become available to applicants from anywhere in Spain.
What holidays are available?
There are 440,284 places for Spain's mainland coast, while another 228,142 are available for island destinations.
A further 210,787 places come under the short-break category. This includes cultural tours, trips to provincial capitals, nature holidays and travel to Ceuta, Melilla and some European destinations.
Holidays from €50
One of the most attractive parts of the scheme is the special €50 price available to pensioners with the lowest incomes.
There are 7,447 places reserved for people receiving certain low retirement or non-contributory disability pensions. For these trips, Imserso covers the remaining travel costs.
How do you book?
Imserso has sent letters containing a four-digit accreditation code to eligible applicants. This code is needed for online bookings, along with your ID.
Bookings can be made online through the authorised tourism providers Turismo Social and Mundicolor, or in person through an authorised travel agency.
The organisation has sent almost 3 million letters to people registered for the scheme, so if you're eligible, it's worth checking your letter carefully for your booking date and accreditation code.
