Spain weather forecast November 2-5: Heavy rain heads for the Mediterranean as temperatures drop
Temperatures will fall sharply in northern Spain, while heavy rain is expected in Cataluña, the southeast and the Balearic Islands

After a sunny autumn weekend, the weather is about to take a bit of a turn across Spain. Much of the country will see a drop in temperatures this week, with some areas feeling considerably colder by midweek. It might be time to dig out the duvet and get a cosy jacket ready! Let's take a look at the daily breakdown:
Monday November 2

Much of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands will be dry, with plenty of sunshine and some high cloud. There will be more cloud along the Mediterranean coast, with a few showers possible. The heaviest rain is expected around Barcelona and northern Tarragona later in the day, while the mountainous Canary Islands could see heavy downpours and thunderstorms. Temperatures will remain fairly mild, with Sevilla reaching 29°C, Alicante 23°C, Murcia 23°C and Madrid 19°C.
Tuesday November 3

Rain will become more widespread along the Mediterranean coast, with heavy showers and thunderstorms possible in Cataluña, the southeast and the Balearic Islands. Some rain could also spread further inland, while the Canary Islands will continue to see showers on higher ground. Temperatures will fall across much of the country, particularly in the north, where the drop will be most noticeable. Madrid is forecast to reach 15°C and Barcelona just 16°C, while Murcia will remain warmer at 24°C.
Wednesday November 4

Unsettled weather will continue along the Mediterranean, with heavy or persistent showers possible, particularly along the Catalan coast and around the Strait of Gibraltar. Rain could also spread into parts of eastern Spain, while snow is possible in the northeast mountains. Temperatures will begin to recover in some areas, including the northeast and Balearic Islands, although Madrid will struggle to get above 14°C. Alicante is forecast to reach 20°C and Murcia 19°C.
Thursday November 5

The weather should start to settle down along the Mediterranean as the easterly winds ease, although showers will remain possible across eastern Spain and Cataluña. Some could still be heavy, but conditions are expected to improve as the day goes on. Temperatures will creep up a bit in many parts of the country, with Alicante reaching 23°C, Murcia 24°C and Sevilla 24°C. Madrid is forecast to reach 15°C.

AEMET has issued weather alerts for several parts of Spain, with the most significant warnings covering the coast of Barcelona and northern Tarragona, where up to 40mm of rain could fall in just one hour on Monday night, accompanied by thunderstorms. Yellow alerts for rain are also in place for parts of Almería and the Region of Murcia, as well as Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca on Tuesday. There are also coastal warnings for parts of A Coruña due to strong northeasterly winds. As always, it's worth keeping an eye on the latest AEMET updates if you're in any of these areas.
