La Manga Club Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.

When submitting text to be included on La Manga Club Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Moratalla celebrates the day of its patron, el Día de Jesucristo Aparecido, Patrón de la Villa on the 19th April.

Moratalla, day of Jesucristo Aparecido, 19th AprilThe day of  Jesucristo Aparecido is celebrated every 19th April and commemorates the appearance of Jesucristo to a shepherd, who was asked by the patron to build a hermitage in his honour, today the Casa de Cristo, set up high above Moratalla


Programme of acts:
     08:– Repique de campanas, the beels of the town all ring out in honour of  Jesucristo Aparecido.
     10:00  – Chocolatada, hot chocolate organised by the housewives association.Taking place in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
     11:30  - Pasacalles, parade through the streets of the authorities from the Town hall to the main church.
     13:15 –Serving of local wines and beer, together with local ham donated by the butchers of the tow, served in the Plaza de la Iglesia, with music by radio Moratalla..
     19:00  –Plaza del Ayuntamiento, gathering of the local authorities and musical bands, who then walk to the church, with the subsequent procession of the image of the Patrón Jesucristo along with the Virgen de la Rogativa, at around  20:00
