March 15 A spectacular guided hike from the Mojón de las Cuatro Caras to the Cueva de la Excomunión near Fortuna and Blanca

Enjoy the wonderful scenery of the regional park of Sierra de la Pila

This hike through the mountain scenery of central/eastern Murcia takes participants on a fairly tough 6.5-km route from the Mojón de las Cuatro Caras, where there is an old forest refuge (click for map) to the Cueva de la Excomunión, one of the favourite hideouts of bandit Jaime el Barbudo over 200 years ago.

Most of the route is on forest paths with only a small section on paved surfaces, and only those used to mountain hiking should consider joining. The walk begins at 9.30 and recommendations include plenty of drinking water, a snack, hiking poles and of course appropriate clothing and footwear.

The cost of registration is 3 euros and this must be paid by Wednesday 11^th March into bank account number ES52 0081 1574 4300 0116 5623 (Banco Sabadell, recipient Asociación de Senderismo Solidario Región de Murcia, state name of those taking part, date of the event and “Ruta Cueva Excomunión”). Proof of payment should be sent by email to oficinaturismo@aytofortuna.es.
