Los Alcázares launches new year-round tourism strategy
The first campaign begins on November 14 with the start of the Gastromar fair in Los Alcázares
The Town Hall of Los Alcázares is continuing its efforts to de-seasonalize tourism in the municipality through a new Tourism Strategy which has been launched this week, emphasizing the different attractions for visitors throughout the year apart from the high summer season which traditionally ends in September.
Under the slogan “Un mar abierto a cada estación” (rough translation “A Sea for all Seasons”), the strategy identifies 5 main topics and campaigns:
The taste of the sea, focussing on the gastronomic delights of the Mar Menor area and events such as the Gastromar fair (which is taking place over the weekend of 14th to 16th November)
The activities of the sea: water sports, cycling, golf, wellness and active tourism
The inspiration of the sea: cultural and historic events, and the heritage which contribute to the identity of Los Alcázares, such as the fiestas of the Berber Raids which celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2026
The sea which unites us: inclusion, diversity, sustainability, environmental education and “slow tourism”
The sea which connects us: community, social networks and citizen participation.
These central axes of the strategy are designed to appeal to all kinds of tourism: not only the active beach tourists who stay in the summer but also longer-stay visitors in winter, sports enthusiasts in autumn, tele-workers, gastronomes and the third age tourists who are so crucial to maintaining the tourism sector during the cooler months of the year.
