To mark the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the prestigious La Manga Club golf resort, one of the owners from the Club itself has released a very special annual magazine.
The magazine is an independent publication produced, edited and designed by Peter Morrow, a La Manga Club owner. It takes a helicopter view of the famous sport and leisure resort on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary.
It starts with a review of the first fifty years, including an interview with Tony Jacklin, golfing legend and multiple ‘major’ winner, who together with Gary Player and Tom Weiskopf, played in the opening golf event when Gregory Peters launched the resort in 1972.
This is followed by a look at the next fifty years and then moves on to review everything that makes La Manga Club the prestigious 5-star resort that it is today.
Over the years, royalty, celebrities and sports stars have visited the Club. Sean Connery, Cliff Richard, Arnold Palmer, Severiano Ballesteros, Andy Murray, Gareth Bale, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool FC, to name but a few; while others, such as footballing greats Kenny Dalglish and Gordon Strachan, Formula 1 stars Nigel Mansell and David Coulthard, and, more recently, Jayne Torvill of Torvill & Dean skating fame, have bought properties at the resort.
Of course, where famous names go, luxury properties follow, and that’s certainly been the case at La Manga Club. Indeed, there are more than 2,000 properties in the resort, and their owners spend tens of millions of euros in the local economy.
La Manga Club looks forward to the next fifty years being as successful as the first fifty.
