February 2 The Middle Ages take centre stage at the El Zacatin arts and crafts market in Bullas
The February artisan market in Bullas features falconry, jousting and medieval entertainment alongside the arts and crafts stalls
Bullas is hosting its monthly El Zacatín artisan market on Sunday February 2 between 9.00 and 14.00 in the squares around the Plaza Vieja and Plaza del Castillo and along Calle San Antón.
The events during the morning include an iron forging demonstration at 10.30 in the Plaza Vieja, the arrival of the Royal Guard at 11.15, medieval musicians at 11.45, jousting at 12.15 and a parade in the style of the troubadours and jesters of the Middle Ages at 13.15.
In Calle San Antón, meanwhile, a clay workshop for children is being held from 11.30 to 14.00, and throughout the morning in the Plaza de España there is an exhibition of birds of prey and falconry alongside a farm scene with live animals. Falconry displays are scheduled from 11.00 to 11.30 and from 13.15 to 13.15, and various other children’s attractions are being provided.
At the same time, there are plenty of opportunities to sample the local DOP Bullas wines.
This is the oldest regular artisan market in the Region of Murcia, dating back to 1944, and always offers a wide range of traditional artisan crafts and gastronomic goodies. There is plenty of parking in the streets nearby and the market is easy to find, the main route off the motorway running straight to the central plaza.
