Camposol No left turn sign resurrected after residents complain to Council
Mazarrón Council repair road sign requested by Camposol residents after possible vandalism
Sometime towards the end of November this year it was noticed by regular passers by that the famous “No left turn” sign at the entrance to the Consum car park on Sector B Commercial centre had been unceremoniously toppled. Whether this was as the result of an accident or an act of vandalism is unknown.
The sign was erected some years ago after public complaints to the Police regarding traffic hold ups at the entrance to the “Consum” carpark in Sector B’s Commercial Centre, a “No left turn” sign was erected, reinforced by a solid white line in the middle of the road, both installed by the Policia Local.
After the sign's recent demise was noticed reports were received by the council through the Línea Verde portal and directly by other sources including the Camposol Business Association.
By mid-December the sign had been re-erected and the warning to drivers reinstated. However, it has been reported that many drivers are still turning left or waiting to turn left, causing traffic build-up and confusion. Various excuses have been heard, including “I didn’t see a sign”, “well nothing was coming”, “the Police are never around to catch offenders” etc.. unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, none of these excuses are a valid defence.
So for those drivers who let their concentration wander or feel it’s worth taking a chance, Mazarrón Policia Local have confirmed that a 50-euro fine is the penalty for not obeying the “No left turn” signalling.
