Alicante bikers donate time and supplies to Murcia homeless charity
The Costa Blanca Rawhiders contribute to many worthwhile causes around the southeast of Spain
Costa Blanca Rawhiders had a very successful and worthwhile Easter visit to the Murcia Caritas Shelter for the homeless recently.
The shelter carries out work to support various social groups in situations of uncertainty or precariousness, and welcomes and supports vulnerable and societally excluded people.
The Costa Blanca Rawhiders, a group of bikers and motorcycle-lovers made up of a mix of retired expats and Spanish locals in the province of Alicante and the Region of Murcia, delivered a trailer load of essential personal and household supplies to the shelter, which had been donated by the good-hearted club members.
Rawhiders were warmly welcomed by the Centre Director and given a guided tour. They were also privileged to meet some of the lovely residents, who were interested in, and delighted to see and discuss, the various types of motorbikes as well.
“It was particularly worthwhile to be able to hopefully make a difference to the lives of people much less fortunate than ourselves,” commented group member Ed Purcell.
“The caring, compassionate and professional way that the shelter is run, and the numerous recreational and learning facilities available to residents, was more than evident on our visit, and the dedication and caring nature of the staff was humbling to see.”
For more information about Caritas visit www.caritas.es. To learn more about the Costa Blanca Rawhiders, you can go along to one of their open days, which are held on the second Sunday of every month at the clubhouse on the CV-913 road in Callosa de Segura, Alicante.
