A white Christmas for the Region of Murcia as snow blankets Sierra Espuña and Sierra del Carche
Snow blankets Sierra Espuña and Sierra del Carche, giving Murcia a white Christmas

Snow fell in the Murcia Region this Christmas, covering the regional parks of Sierra Espuña and Sierra del Carche and giving the area a true white Christmas. In Sierra Espuña, the snowfall was heavy, leaving the park completely covered in snow as temperatures stayed low and the snow didn’t let up.
The same happened in Sierra del Carche, where snow fell in the Altiplano area between Jumilla and Yecla. Snow was reported at around 1,400 metres, with locals sharing videos on social media showing the snowy landscape.

Temperatures are expected to stay around or below zero in the north-west and high plateau areas. The chilly temperatures and wintry weather are affecting the coastal areas as well. Rain fell all day on Christmas Day along the coast and more rain is expected over the weekend.
In the past 24 hours, some areas near Cartagena saw up to 30 litres of rain. There was a yellow warning in place in many towns but it has now been lifted.
So while some kids might not have been able to try out their new bikes or skates in the rain and snow, at least it made Christmas feel cosy!
