16-apartment new-build complex in Isla Plana given Town Hall approvement
Confidence appears to be high in the health of the property market in La Azohía and Isla Plana
The Urbanismo Committee of the Town Hall of Cartagena has given its approval to an application to enable a complex of 16 apartments to be built on Isla Plana, on a plot of rocky ground alongside the curve in the main road as it runs around the picturesque cove of Cala del Tabaco.
The plot covers an area of 980 square metres about 50 metres from Cala del Tabaco and is located alongside Restaurante Montemar, where there the view out over the Mediterranean is partially obscured by roadside trees. The development is to consist of two blocks stepped up the mountain, each of them with two storeys, as per an initial study which was approved as long ago as 2004.
The promoter is Cala Bella Inversiones SL, and this latest project seems to confirm that promoters are at last regaining confidence in the health of the local property market almost 20 years after the massive slump. There are various other small-scale new-build projects going ahead in Isla Plana at present – and this in a small village where a glut of small apartments was created between 15 and 20 years ago with the completion of the Mojón Hills development.
At the same time, many residents of nearby La Azohía are up in arms over plans to build more than 130 apartments alongside the beach front in San Ginés – clearly there is great interest in property in this part of the Costa Cálida at present!
