Where do you still have to wear a face mask in Spain 2023?
You no longer have to wear a mask on public transport in Spain, but there are still some places where it is a legal requirement to have a face mask
Masks are no longer be compulsory on public transport in Spain. The measure was approved by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday February 7, 2023 and came into force on 8 February, when it was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The Spanish Government took this decision after analysing the impact of Covid-19 in recent months and deciding that it’s finally safe to stop wearing the mask on public transport like buses, trains and planes, around 10 months after they stopped being compulsory in shops, businesses and schools.
In other minor health establishments like opticians’, hearing centres and orthopaedic centres, it will also no longer be obligatory to wear a face mask.
The only remaining places in Spain, then, where it is still required by law to wear a face mask over the mouth and nose are in pharmacies, hospitals, dental clinics, care homes and health centres.
